The new drug, which will be available in 100mg doses, will be available in two 50mg doses and a 100mg dose.
"This is a treatment for male erectile dysfunction and I'm very pleased with it," said Dr. Thomas R. Chisholak, the FDA's director of research and development. "This is very important because it's the only treatment that is really effective and has a big impact on sexual life."
The new drug, which is approved by the FDA, was developed by AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals.
It was developed in collaboration with the University of Illinois at Chicago's drug discovery group. AstraZeneca has been working on the drug for more than a year, with the first drug approved for treatment in 2017.
